Lanse , If this photo loading works . The first pic is a quick change tool post or tool holder. { you can see the China on it { no comment].To quickly change tooling you switch out the entire dovetailed piece and swing the handle , done. Next is a carbide insert holder which still has to go into a tool holder mounting block. The next photos of the tool holder that cuts off the end of the tool is the Diamond Tollholder . It comes with a tool grinding jig and is easy to sharpen. The last pic is a typical lathe project of a velocity stack for a carburetor.

the vice is mounted in dovetail that can be moved up and down . you can see the set screws that lock it in place. the vice can be rotated around the black ring and locked in place .

YES! I have that same EXACT setup! It was included with the lathe, although we had to run all over trying to track down the bolt for it... Dont ever lose yours if you take it off your lathe for anything :p

I tried it out today beveling some 2" pipe... It was awesome! Thanks for the pics, good stuff :)

(quoted from post at 16:37:52 01/28/15) YOWSA them jaws are way out there waitin to gobble somebodies shirt G G G

A good machinist wears short sleeved shirts and keeps the shirt tails tucked in. Might even wear a shop apron that is tied tight. Failure to do so will result in a very quick education.

Yes I am well aware of that but . I am sitting on a stool back from the chuck and it is a boring operation where I'm cutting into the inside , hands back by the tool post. If I'm not using the leadscrew I place in the neutral position so it is not spinning.

Dad is prone to wear a heavy flannel shirt, untucked, instead of a jacket, in the fall of the year. It's been some years back, but he was turning a piece when the lead screw caught the bottom of the shirt. He started getting sucked in and yelled for me. Before I could cover the 20 feet between us it had already sucked him in to the point it literally ripped the shirt off his back. He got lucky as he came out of the ordeal with nothing but a little bruising and sore muscles....and hard earned reminder of a lesson he already knew......
