In my experience, Rural King is a true farmer's & hunter's store, much better choice of merchandise & with lower prices than TSC.

Was there yesterday.Got some chain oil, bird seed, coffee filters, and some groceries all under one roof. Oh ya,free pop corn too!!

That is the way I find it in Angola Indiana as well. At their store which was an old Wallmart store the parking lot will look like it is still a Wallmart store and down the line at the TSC there will be three or four cars. if that many.

* TSC mostly horse and dog stuff, way overpriced, poor quality, high personnel turnover, low inventory and what they do have is the wrong stuff. Suffering from identity crisis last 10 years. Last time I was in store, the manager was involved in an altercation with a woman wanting to return something. Everyone in the store heard them screaming at each other - not good. Poor check-out clerk was so embarrassed. (she quit later)

*** Rural King very good inventory, fair pricing, good decent staff, offers senior discounts once a month, very good weekly ads with desirable items on sale, nice place to shop, stupid e-bate gimmick

**** "Big R" Rural King very good well stocked inventory, fair pricing, name brands, very friendly helpful staff, on-site full service on tires & power equipment, sells guns and ammo, tillage parts, my favorite but needs some stores further south!

Been to the one in Owensboro KY a bunch of times when visiting friends there. Have not been since the new one opened. Best farm store we have ever seen. Wish we had one close to us. Always spend more there than I plan on. Wife and I both love it.
Have bought a lot of canning supplies including a new pressure cooker. Our TSC here is a waste of a good piece of land.

Wasn't Rural King a part of Central Tractor at one time? Never had one in my area, but I was a BIG Central Tractor fan.

RK is more like Farm and Fleet, a farmers store.

We refer to TSC as Harbor Frieght for horse farmers.

I've only been in 2 of them Angola In, and Wentzville Mo. I think they're probably the best farm store I've been in, way bigger selection than TSC.

Dick L, do you live near Angloa? I was working up there last year on a pipeline, staying in Circle b campground. We really liked Angola neat town.

I use both TSC and Rural King. Rural King cators more to the farmer and TSC more so to pet and horse lovers. The Rural King that I go to has a large selection of items but very low quantity of any one item. As far as quality they both handle good stuff and junk. We also have a Big R store not far from us and like it better than TSC or Rural King.

Angola is where we shop and eat out for the most part. The Timbers is the restaurant of choice now for us. Friday night fish and Farmers Omelet breakfast when we make time to go. They are West of the mound on US20 at the end of town. For years it was Bob Evans North of the mound.

Hey thanks for all the quick comments. Since I don't shop much at TSC; I'm really looking for a better choice.

Rural King was started by a farmer in Mattoon, IL. I have been to that store as well as many others. I like to shop there, as well as TSC, but TSC definitely caters more to horse and pet people than Rural King.

My rural king in terre haute, sells horse feed. One
day they had a sale, the horse people came and
loaded pallets on their trailers. Not sure what
other horse items they sell. My rural is like super
wal-mart. TSC is much smaller.

I bought Midwest 12% sweet feed for my horses in 55 pound bags for 6.79 a bag on one of their sales. I just got 10 bags because that is all the mouse free space I had at the time. I would have bought a pallet at that price if I thought I could kept it safe. The Co-ops down town gets $12 something for a 50 pound bag.

I think they had one on the 50 pound since then. I really don't remember the weeks they have feed on sale. I know if I pay attention to the fliers and inventory I never have to pay full price for horse feed.

There's a farm and fleet in Decatur. I've been to the Mattoon Rural King store quite a few times, my Son lives down the road in Shelbyville. I've found some great deals at Rural King through the years.

We have several here in northeast Indiana, mostly in former Wal Mart stores. Lower prices than TSC. Also, they are really competitive on gun prices.

Many times. Having to park across the road when they are busy has kept me from driving out lately. A fantastic place to eat.

I like it, 5 TSC closer but will go to RK for most, once in a while TSC will have somthing RK does not have but it is a crap shoot as to who has what but generaly RK has more and better prices. And the 2 that I knoe of are in old Wall Mart store in Van Wert, Oh. and Decater, In. Think they now have one at Ft. Wayne but have not yet seen it. VW is closest for me.

Yea I liked Timbers I ate in there several times but Bob Evans was my "go to" place to eat supper, also liked Bill's Steakhouse in Bronson MI.

I got lucky.. Never had to park across the road, but several times by the time I came out the other side of the road was about full too!

It's not bad. Has some pretty good sales. Just bought a drum of rotella today, with their in store rebate deal it comes down to $9.65/gallon. 2" yellow straps were a bit over $7.
