I posted the gouge rod number by mistake before. This is just Nasty Cast rod. EZ tig wire is kinda claiming the same thing. It was just patented in 2013. It must be what is in Nasty Cast. EZ wire claims that their alloy can be added to mig and flux coated stick rods. I am interested in finding more about this. Nasty Cast claims they can join cast iron and steel successfully. the EZ tig wire people weld copper and cast iron to steel in the video. No break testing shown.

Dick, there are two things you should keep in mind:

1. george md is this site's foremost authority on repairing cast iron.

2. Amazing advancements in the physics and metallurgy of welding don't actually occur very often; certainly not as often as the claims for them occur.

The guy in the 2nd video did a good job welding. I would have liked to have seen the other side of the weld,however.

I was trained to weld 50 years ago by Sohio Oil Company in all kinds of metals but mainly to do high pressure pipe. I am not after training on how to do. I found these videos about the new alloy that will do different than I knew of. I am interested in what others think or if they have tried it what they thought of it. I ordered the Nasty Cast to see for myself and I see by the tracking it has been delivered to my factory. I am going to order the EZ wire Monday to try that for my own information. I mistakenly thought others might want to try something new if they hadn't already.
 
I don't think you were mistaken. If you try the products and they are really good, people on here will believe you. It's people who have a product to sell who have reason to withhold or misstate information, so those are the ones we tend to reserve judgment about.

I thought the guy in the second video did a great job on the whole video. He presented the material in a real world trial with good information without "pushing" any products on the viewer. I am going to watch some of his other videos to see what I can pick up about TIG welding.
