Walbro Carburator

How do I get the throttle shaft out of a Walbro LMK carburator? Where is a good source to find a replacement? I was unable to copy & paste a link.

My first question is why would you want to change throttle shafts in those carburetors?

Have you also confirmed that the carburetor is NLA?

If the shaft is worn out or damaged, probably the carburetor body is worn out or damaged too.

If you are set on removing it, Usually you take the screw out of the throttle plate-note its orientation and which side is 'out'- If there is a lever on both ends, usually there is a screw holding one of them on, you remove the screw and lever and slide the shaft out the other side of the carb. body. Note where the levers are in relation to the shaft and other details/parts on the carburetor body. Pictures will help you get it back together right.

I'll take a picture & show you why I want to replace the throttle shaft. I'm sure this isnt unusual but it's the first time I have seen this.

Here's the pic. Shouldn't be difficult to figure what was rigged up here. I'm scared that if it stays like this, eventually it will "race" up & throw a rod. I agree with replacing the carbuartor. On the Walbro site, it lists the factory setting for the new one.

The throttle shaft should move in unison with the linkage. I have seen them work loose and would not open properly as the linkage moved. According to the picture, it seems as if this may be what has happened and someone ran a screw in it to tighten it up. If the screw does not protrude too far in the back side where it may hang on something, there should be no danger of over-revving the engine. I have removed the throttle shaft and clamped it in a vise, (wrap a cloth around it to protect the shaft) and gently braded the end back to tighten it. If you are worried about the screw, you may want to try this. You also may like to post this on the garden tractor forum below.
