Question for you guys....I have an 89 Toyota pickup with only about 130 thousand miles on it. I bought it new when I was in the remodeling business. I moved to a farm when I retired in 92, and it got little use after that, maybe 2 thousand miles a year. I have no idea as to what to ask for it. Got a little rust around the fenders. In great shape other than that. Topper on it also. Runs great. Any ideas what to ask for it?

Many things to consider... 2wd or 4wd? standard or auto? where is it? how are the tires?
I myself am looking for a small truck, 4wd and standard would be my preference.

Have you tried online price guides like NADA and Edmonds ?
Those old Toyota's sure seem to at least have HIGH ASKING prices on them when advertised.
Put a high price on it and then if no calls after a bit start dropping the price until the phone rings and then bingo you end up in the right area.

2 or 4 wheel drive makes a big difference as does what transmission it has. Also regular cab or extended cab. The boy payed $1400 for one that is a 4X4 and has extended cab and a 5 speed

Depends on who is putting a price on it. My 2001 Tacoma has almost 300K on it and the county thinks it is worth 7 thousand dollars for tax value.

4 or 6 cylinder makes a difference and I have both 91 and 94 no rust. The 4 cylinder get over 20 mpg (4wd) and the 91 can get up to get 16 mpg.
The 91 is a 6 cylinder 4wd.

Sounds like an $800 - $1200 truck to me. I keep my eyes open for 80s Toyota trucks with long beds that are not rusty and have 2WD. That even those most people want 4WD. My reason is for Toyota motorhome upgrades. The older Toyota motorhomes made from 1978 and back only had the 2.2 liter engines, no power steering available, and usually a four speed manual or non-lockup auto trans. Late 80s trucks all had power steering available, often had 5 speed trans or lock-up converter automatic transmissions. That and 2.4 liter or 3 liter engines although the 3 liter V6s of that era were not very good engines.
Here's the 1988 Toyota my family uses.
