Troy Bilt engine starter.

Noticed yesterday that Lowes has Troy Bilt blowers and trimmers with engines, with an auxilary 110 volt starter that hooks into the top end of the engine with a hex shaft. Just insert the hex shaft and trigger the starter instead of pulling the rope.

I think they also have one you can chuck into a drill and start your trimmer with. Now if they had those for chainsaws....

Its not really a Hex shaft: five sided so they got you there. So you gotta have their motor or their drill adapter.

I got one of the drill adapters in my toolbox so I can do compression tests on those after the recoil rope goes south. The recoil rope or the spring tends to fail about the time they get so they won't start because of low compression, for some reason. Probably fails from lots of pulling by an optimistic owner of that stuff.

Also, If you ever had one of those you know why they put that on there. Right before it completely goes kaput that's the only way you gonna get it going.

If it was a good idea, Stihl, Echo, Husqvarna, Dolmar, and Shindaiwa would have had it years ago.

The fact that 110 volts is needed is an off point.
I do believe they offered a rechargeable battery one though.

And why the others do not have it? Patent?
