Installing a tire changer

Installing one on a concrete slab. It will be held by 4 - 7/16 bolts. I will want to remove it when not in use and screw shorter bolts in the holes to keep them free of trash. I don't have any concrete bits, but can buy. What is the best way? Thanks, JD.

Sleeve or wedge anchor would work, but when not in place the studs will be up. I thought I've seen this discussed here before, and I forget if it was mentioned or not, something about an insert for recessed fastening. In any case, I am not aware of any, but that does not mean anything, look at the Hilti catalog/website, see what is available, Redhead, Powers, maybe Fastenal as well. Make sure to size the masonry bit to the fastener, measure the holes, and thickness of the base plate, know the thickness of your slab and make sure to avoid concrete reinforcing or any other interferences when drilling the holes out, also a good idea to blow out the hole with compressed air. Maybe there is a recessed epoxy insert, or something mechanical, if so, should be easy, use the base plate for a template to mark the hole locations, and don't do this too close to the edge of the slab.

Look for Tampins. They are a threaded sleeve inside a lead exterior.
You drop them ahole the right size and expand the lead with a special punch.

Gemplers mounts their changer to a 4 by 4 steel plate. No anchoring necessary. It's not quite portable, but you could shove it closer to the wall when not in use

rockyridgefarm comment is good- operator weight helps hold it in place. If not, drill concrete, install (epoxy) sleeve, and drill plate for 1-2 pins to drop through plate, into sleeve(s).

A little more work, but I use a square 2" Id receiver in the floor. My changer has a piece of square 2" OD welded to the bottom. To use, drop the changer into the receiver. Its weight holds it down, and the square keeps it from turning. When done using, lift the changer out of the receiver and your floorspace is open again. No tools needed.

The receivers also work well with other fab tools I have that need to be tied down and accessible, but I can't justify dedicated floorspace for.
