Has anyone tried this canned fuel? A buddy of mine has and he swears by it. It's quite pricey at $5.50 a quart. He says his chainsaws, weed eaters and blower has never ran so well. You couldn't afford it if you had a lot of wood to cut. I think I'm going to try a can today. I'll let you know what happens.

This one has been discussed before. I haven't tried it, but it sounds like a good solution if you don't go through much gas in a year. I always worry about the shelf life of my mixed gas. I am a bit dubious of your friend's claim that his equipment runs "better" with the premix, but it's his money. I'd definitely use it if I had only one or two tools that I used infrequently.

I thought it made things run good. My worn out trimmer even ran better I thought. My problem is that I use too much cutting wood, etc. I switched to keeping a five gallon can of alcohol free fuel around and mixing up a gallon using Stihl oil. I swear my their oil and think it is just as good as that bottled gas.

If you won't use much I would use it.

i sell it in my shop the 40-1 50-1 and straight for 4cycle. i recommend it for last of season use, generators. or if you use stuff very infrequent. its the storage life only is what i see otherwise i use gasahol in everything i run have for years never had issue.

I don't like paying $4 gal. for the premium gas, no way am I paying $5.50 a quart! I mix ethanol-free premium with a quality oil 3 oz to the gal., only a gal at a time. I use the 43-1 mix because some of my saws are 40 years old, and the book for them says 20-1. Everything seems to run fine this way, but I never leave a container sit out in the sun, and usually it's used up within a few months.

Too expensive for something that one uses regularly but might be just right for something that one uses only rarely and tends to put away and forget.

I have been using Opti-2 for over 10 years and will not go back to the mixes that I use to use. I buy it in one of the larger containers and it will treat 25 gallons of gas. One good thing about it is one mix works for all my chainsaws and weedeater no mater year, manufacturer,or model. The mufflers stay clean, no smoke and no real stink of oil.

I use it in my chainsaws - Stihl 290 and Poulan 2900 @50:1
Expensive is correct, but my saws do seem run better. There is little smoke and have never had a problem with plug fouling on idle.
I have also used the Stihl brand at a couple of more bucks per liter, but don't see any significant difference other than the exhaust odor.
I use maybe a liter or two over a weekend for 8 or 9 weeks so not a huge expense.

The ethanol horse has been ridden many times. I question is it the ethanol or is it the moisture in the air mixing ethanon that is the real issue?

Many say that mixed fuel has a shelf live of about 90 days.

I no longer have any 2 cycle engines so I have no need to mix any gas. I just wonder what would happen if someone put a quart of mixed gas in a glass jar, sealed it up so no air could get to the gas and observed how long it takes to go bad.

I use it. Tried it out in my stihl then decided to save a few bucks and mix gas myself. It hasn't run right since think it needs new gas lines.
If I dont use it I'm going to get a can of avgas and mix it With the MC1 my friend runs.

I run some through the weed-eater when going into storage for winter, same for 4 cycle snowblower when winter's over. chainsaw whenever I'm done because I never know how long before needing again.Same with sons 4 cycle splitter. A quart lasts a long time doing this. I buy one a year.

I use premium gas for all my can gas. Add Star Tron to it. And mix it in small cans with synthetic oil as needed for 2 cycles. Have had that gas in a genny for almost 2 years still started right up and ran fine.

You find that fire departments keep it in the crash truck with the chop saw and the jaws of life. It stays good forever as long as you don't open the can. When they are back to the fire house they run it out so the carb is dry. NO ETHINOL in the mix. That is why it works so nice. Get the 40 to one mix not the 50 to one. You can also get gallon cans and it is just a little cheeper.

(quoted from post at 08:31:36 12/22/14) What has ethanol got to do with anything?
Ethanol will for little slimy dregs in gas that will stop up jets in carbs. If your engine starts slowing down or dying and you choke it and it straightens up for a while the dregs are the problem. StarTron additive eliminates this problem and makes the gas last a year or more.

You might find something here. Most of the places listed just sell the little cans mentioned at the start of this thread.

I found a place in Harrisburg, PA that has E0 for about a dollar/gallon more than E10.
