these cheap brushes,if your not doing something fancy,it gets the job done, for the price of them if you are using oil base paint,, sometimes it cost more for solvent to wash them then if you through it out

We used to use highway striping paint to mark patches. Darn stuff dried so fast that it was impossible to clean up a brush after using it, so we'd throw it in the back of the truck when we were done. Next morning we'd lay the brush on the truck bumper and beat the dried paint out with a hammer and go again. You could get several days out of a couple of cheap brushes if you were reasonably careful with the hammer. I never tried hammer cleaning one that had dried enamel or latex in it. Might work, but not for use on fine finishes, ha.

Getting solvents in the air is such a big deal now, I get the cheap foam brushes. When I am done I wrap it up in tin foil and sometimes I am using the same color again before it dries out.

The highway strip painting crew, everyday they couldn't get as mucha done as the previous day.
The forman ask whats the matter? They didn't know unless it was cause they kept getting further away from the paint can

If using an oil based paint or varnish, the solvent used to clean the brush costs more than the brush so I throw it away.

Agree, not worth cleaning a brush after using oil based paints. Many times I get free after rebate brushes from Menards.

If prefer to spray oil paints over brushing. Not too hard to clean paint gun with mineral spirits.

A lot depends on what you are painting. Not to bad mouth harbor freight but those cheap brushes regardless of where you get them are pretty bad to use with oil based paint. A brush thick with soft bristles like a china bristle brush can brush oil based enamel so smooth it almost looks like it was sprayed.

There are some things at Harbor -Freight that would be stupid to buy elsewhere. Then there are some things that are stupid to buy at Harbor-Freight too.

That just means it is a natural hair brush as opposed to a synthetic. It is probably ox hair. I can garrantee it is not Siberian squirrel.

I clean oil based out with gasoline first and then clean the gas out with a little bit of mineral spirits, paint thinner, etc. gm

I have a refrig in the garage with a good freezer, when using oil or latex for misc. small stuff around the shop I wrap the brush in a sandwich bag tight and throw in the freezer until I need it again. They keep forever, just warm and use.

Yeah, and if you point a loaded gun at your head and pull the trigger, you'll blow your brains out.

However, if you use caution, neither cleaning a paint brush with gasoline or handling a loaded gun are dangerous practices.

Why would it "obligate" him? You want em, go find em your damn self....

Pointing our hyprocracy does not obligate a person to become a human google app.
