Columbian Hydraulic Vise -Need Help

I have a Columbian Hydraulic Vise , Model 1004-FQ that is powered by foot with a Hydraulic Power Pump ,serial #HQ 592, Model #1004-50B also made by Columbian.
The vise worked fine until I disconnected the pump to move the vise to a new shop. Now the vise will not hold its tightness. Acts like there is air in the Hy cylinder and I cannot figure out how to bled it. Does anyone have any knowledge or operating directions for this vise.
I have contacted the new owners of the company and they don,t have any records of the vise ever been made.
The patent # is 2387102 and the drawings come up on the Patent office site but are hard to see.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, maybe someone out there has a operators manual.
Thank You ,Robert in Md.

Not familiar with the brand, but I have worked with air over hydraulic power clamping systems.

If there is air in the line and cylinder, try positioning the pump and reservoir above the cylinder, then cycle the cylinder a few times. The air should "burp" into the reservoir when the pressure is released. The pump can then be returned to the floor.

If the cylinder is bleeding off pressure, there may be another problem. Possibly some trash was disturbed in the moving process and is holding a check valve, relief valve or release valve open. Could also be a bad seal in the pump letting oil bypass. If there are no external leaks, as in the clamp cylinder, hose, or fitting, the problem will be in the pump.
