What am I doing wrong? Trying to order a gift for the grandson, price says $41.01-add to cart, and it comes up $54.99. I would just go to town but Sears wants $78.00

Amazon has free shipping on most orders over $35. It should tell if you get free shipping and on check out you have to select the free shipping or it will cost. Take your time and read what is on the screen.

Choose the print your own option, print it out and send it to him. $0 shipping and handling. All that really matters is the key code anyway.

Ditto to what Pitalplace said. If the item is eligible for free shipping, you must select free shipping as you are checking out or Amazon will charge you a shipping fee. Free shipping is not automatic - you have to actively click on it.

You may also be required to pay sales tax if Amazon has a physical presence in your state. I know that's true for some online retailers, but I'm not sure about Amazon.

Thanks guys, I will try again. Amazon says I have an account, but I have never ordered before. I figure one of the girls has used my email:)

Most things are free shipping over $35 if stated. I don't pay the $100 for prime per year. On occasion I might have to add a little of this thing or that to reach $35. Not difficult I can always find a little of something. And yes if there is a brick and mortar store in your state you pay tax also. Just some getting used to

My wife said the same thing has going on for her. Best buy it right away and not leave it in the cart or the price changes. Saw it happen when trying to book a motel room online the other night also. They showed the lower price till I pushed book it and then my advance pay discount would go away. Corporate scamming maybe?
