Neighbor has a gas Honda generator, used only to power his 1-1/2 HP well pump. Motor runs fine but no power out. Breakers are good. He is not able to fix it an asked me to look at it. Anyone have experience with this as where the problem is??

Hello Tequila,

Plug in at the other outlets see if any work. Look for the simple things, Breaker tripped?
If it has not been used for awhile, brushes hanging up or dirty? Sometimes just tapping the brush cover may brings it back to life,

Guido.

Invertor or conventional model? Honda conventional models have a little regulator board with some electronics in it that can go. Check brushes and windings resistance before buying.

Try plugging an electric drill into an outlet, squeeze the drill's trigger, and rotate the chuck backwards while the generator is running. Oftentimes, this will excite the alternator and get things working again.

Thanks for all the advice, I have to dig it out to get the model and serial #. He has it surrounded with CC blocks.
