Has anyone had any experence with the new 4 and 8 foot LED lamps? They are to replace floresent lamps. No ballast needed. Kind of expensive but 50,000 hours lifespan, work in the cold and low power use. thanks joe

Going to give Char some more to learn about as She works in both plumming and electric departments. And Utilitech is Lowes bargain basement line of lights. Joe, if you look at any of them you will see what I am talking about. You know quality.

Was just the first link I found to show what I was talking about. I was in the local ACE store a week or so ago and they were trying them out in a few rows. Looked alright but next time I looked some were out already. Don't know if bad or wired wrong. These are 8 foot lamps. joe

I've hung about 75 of them. The ones I worked with are built on a fluorescent light frame and lens. The do have a driver in them to convert the 120 volt across power to DC power, usually 12 volt but not always. Light output was similar but probably can buy brighter ones. All in all I thought they were pretty nice, but time will tell.

The utilitec brand is made of thinner steel than better quality units. At times a pallot of lights shipment to store half of them were damaged in shippment so bad they had to be junked and that is just from the bands they fasten them to the pallot with. Never tried them in the floresent tubes that was paper thin steel that would bend just from looking at it. Just picking up one of the fixtures they would bend in your hand. Joe, I am sure you installed better units but this brand is for people that buy acording only, not quality Have no idea how bulbs would be.
