8 14.5 trailer tires

I have a used 12 ton trailer that takes 8 tires and need to buy new ones. Hate to buy Galaxy for almost $200. each. How are the cheaper tires on E-Bay from $60 to $80. Won't be using the trailer that much. thanks

I've got a 6 ton trailer with four of the DOT certified 8 X 14.5s. I bought the cheapest Chinese tires I could find about 10 years ago and have had zero problems. Now they are showing dry-rot cracks and I have to make a 2000 mile trip. I'm buying el-cheapo again, for sure. With tires on Ebay, the shipping charges often kill the deal. I've been buying all my tires lately from www.tires-easy.com This time, not so sure. All depends where I can find them the cheapest shipped to my door. The quality of the tires from Asia does not worry me at all though. Got them on two cars and one motorhomes and all have exceeded my expectations.

I sold hundreds of the 12 ply's in the HD lowboy casing design. My suppliers price for them is 80.52. There is a difference between trailer house tires and H.D. lowboy tires. I would not put trailer house tires on any trailer.

I wouldn't even know where to buy a non-DOT certified tire like is used on house trailers - other then used down at the mobile-home-sales place.
Any new tire I've looked at for my trailer, from Asia, is a 12-ply rated tire and DOT certified for highway use.

I've had good luck on kijiji/craigslist finding them. We just took a 1100 mile trip on a set with 11,000 lbs on 4 of them and they held up well. All DOT tires. Had 2 spares. I think they may have been 9 14.5 though, whichever the higher load rating is. Same diameter though.

I've got an 18" trailer that has mobile home axles on it, and 8x14.5 tires, need new tires, do you fellas use the clamp type mobile home rims, or a wheel with lug nuts (bolts)? Have considered buying new hubs that fit those spindles that have 6 bolt pattern and 15 or 16" tires. don't like the MH tires that have such a shallow bead, some guys say to just put a 15" tube in them to keep pressure and avoid rolling off bead. Thoughts?

You can find 8 14.5 12 or 14 ply trailer tires on EBAY around $65 includes shipping. I believe they will fit your rims. In Maine you can only use mobile home tires on mobile homes. You might want to check in your state. I used to use them on my equipment trailer but didn't last as I believe they are made for one trip from factory, sameas the brakes. I bought need brake backing plates complete with brakes for my tri-axle trailer.
