I bought a mac task connect et1505an last year for the shop. Nice scanner for about 400. And free software updates. Our snap on modis is a big dollar scanner, and the software can run about a grand a year. I have domestic, asian , european, and medium and heavy duty truck software on the modis. For the money, the mac is a handy little unit.

I have an Actron and it has paid for itself several times over as far as I am concerned. Shows codes as well as most probable fixes. Very satisfied for the $$$
Actron

I got the basic one from Harbor Freight for about $40 on sale. It shows the codes and resets them. A quick google search tells me what I need to know about the code.

I bought a Innova that also reads the ABS codes. Was a little over $300.00 at the time and has paid for itself many times over. It can read the sensors in real time and also has the freeze frame which is helpful. It provides the code explanation for most but not all codes. Regardless of which codes reader you purchase, do your homework and study up on the systems, sensors, and root causes. It is easy to chase ghosts just because of a sensor code. Example: O2 sensor code doesn't mean that the sensor is bad, just means it is out of limits. May be caused by many other things. Have to look at the whole system in real time to determine what is the cause.

I know half-a-dozen people with Actrons incuding me. Zero issues. The CP125 Actron sells for $25 on Ebay with free shipping and no tax. Good deal for the price. That's the one I have and it's done all I ever needed.

I have the Actron with the live data. It gives all the values for fuel trim, catalytic converter, code reset and numerous other functions. Around $125.00
I like it.

Been using an app on my android smartphone called Torque Pro, it connects via bluetooth to a transmitter plugged in to your OBD2 port.

The app costs $5.00, spent another $25 for the transmitter, check out the link for what it'll do.

Kinda liked not having a cable in the way.

Now the bad news

Bought a cheap transmitter, and it worked fine until a week ago (had it about a year), may need another transmitter, haven't played with it much yet to see if it's really dead or something else is wrong.
