Made A Counter Bore From A Reamer

I needed to counter sink .860 X .250 heads on 9/16" core pins. Looked all over in the drawers and boxes and all .875 counter bores had the pilot turned down way under. I took an old reamer, ground the pilot and then sharpened the flutes. All six counter bores as well as making the counter bore took just over an hour. Grinding the six core pins to put a counter bore for screws in the wheel will take a tad longer.

I assume you didn't have a 7/8 drill bit available for modification.

I know all too well about using what is available. Sometimes it's amazing how handy I can be with a piece of baling wire.

Actually I used a 7/8" reamer that was under size from boring lots of wheel hubs. I'm a pack rat. I keep wore out tooling just incase I could find a use for them. :)^D
