I Think This Will Work

I decided to bridge the floor runners with a section of pipe and add another 2"x 2" angle iron runner to hold the weight on the floor. I ordered steel Friday which will be delivered on Tuesday. I just welded in the only piece on hand long enough. So I have one welded in and three more to go. The flooring is in ready for pick up so if the weather will cooperate I should get it ready to use in a week or so.

How it was.

Your repair will still bend open with too much load. I have put in more cross members closer to the axles. That will carry the load better.

Adding one about 3-4 inches in front of the axle will still miss the axle and springs. Angle iron cross members are easier to install too. The factory ones are too far apart to really hold much load. I usually put them every 2 foot or so.

The lowering kits for the rear of PUs are built just like that. The only ones I have seen fail were bolted in, and only some of the bolts were used.

I wonder how many of these it would take in the trailer to flatten out the half pipe welded to two pieces of 2" angle iron?

Wow Dick, I just scarfed this out of my buddy's scrap yard a couple weeks ago. Looks awfully close to yours.

Well I would think you have it covered. LOL I thought it was a car trailer type of trailer. They are set up like your picture too.

For your miniature horses just good two inch wood flooring would span the distance with enough strength.
