I managed to scavenge a Chicago Pneumatic CP797-6 1" drive air impact wrench from the scrappers today. This is not a harbor freight item (i.e. Central Pneumatic), this is the real deal. They sell for $800-900 and are apparently used for lug nuts on big trucks. I don't know if anything is wrong with it yet, but it probably needs new seals or something. Or maybe nothing.
Anyway, there have been several times when my 1/2 air impact just didn't have the guts for the job, when trying to remove big bolts and nuts on tractors and equip, so I'm very happy to get this. I have a huge compressor, so air is no problem.

So- assuming I can get it to work, should I try to amass 1" drive sockets, or simply get a 1" to 1/2" adaptor? From what I've seen, 1" sockets are just stupidly expensive new. Maybe I can snag some at an auction. Or maybe 3/4"?
