Everyone has that one or two firearms that the fit and feel is just better than anything else they own.

My security blanket rifle is a Savage model 111, composite stock, Accu-trigger in 30/06. Used a Model 70 for 30+ years, but that one is now my grandson's rifle. Have several other rifles, but the Savage just "feels" right.

The hogleg of choice is my 30+ year old Super Blackhawk with a 5 1/2 inch barrel. It's been used enough it's on it's 3rd barrel. It originally had the 7 1/2 inch barrel. Never cared for the long barrel. Wore that barrel out and replaced it with a 5 1/2 incher. Replaced that barrel about 7-8 years ago with another 5 1/2 incher. Again, it just "feels" right in the hand.

How about you guys and gals? What special guns do you have that just fits you like no other?

AK-47 first, 1911A .45 second, Mossberg 12 gauge pump third.

On a Marine Corps forum a couple of years ago, someone posed the question, "If you could only own one firearm, what would it be?"

Except for the clown who said a 3.5 rocket launcher, a 12 gauge pump shotgun was almost unanimous.

My favorite pistol is an original Steyr M40. Out of all the others I have held and fired, it just feels right in my hand. It doesn't hurt that the reviews I read on it from way back say that it's basically everything Glock wanted to be, but wasn't.

Rifle wise I love my AK, since I have never been able to get into the whole AR craze. I also like my old Model 94 Winchester, 30-30 lever action that belonged to my Grandpa. My final is an old Enfield chambered in 303 British. Grandpa had it sporterized years ago, and passed it on to Dad, and one day it will come on down to me.

On the shotgun front, I have never got into the semiauto's but love Grandpa's old double barrel, 12ga, Ithica.

I have a 44mag that is well lets say a one of a kind and it fits so well if I bring it up and do not think about it I can hit what I want every time. It is heavy enough to have almost no kick and is well lets say more then I get in almost a year

Smith M19 357, Smith Bodyguard 38, Smith Kit Gun 22. Savage 99 308, a ratty old Mauser 93 7x57 and a Marlin 336 35 Rem. In shotguns an Ithaca 37 16 ga. In 22's a Rem 511 ir Savage 23. Those are the ones that feel right. There are many, many more here, but those get the nod for "feel".

my favorite long gun is an old savage .22/.410 over under. grandad got it for me when i was about 7 yrs old. got a lot of squirrels, rabbits, pheasants, and a couple ducks with it. also good varmint gun. wife loves to shoot trap with it too. for a hog leg, 1911a .45.

Used to be a model 111 Savage in a 223, but I have since started carrying a Rossie Rio Grande in a 30-30. My go to rifle for deer is a Ruger M77 in a 7mm. For handguns, I have a Taurus model 66, 7 shot in a 357 that I LOVE shooting. Killed more hogs with it then anything else so far.

Favorite rifle, DPMS LR 10, chamberd in .308. A 1970 Winchester Model 1400 is my most used shotgun and the 1911 is my most loved hand gun.

Favorite has to be my 1903A3 30-06 made by Remington handed down to me from my Dad, he got it from a military auction about 1957. Dad bought a stock from Herters back in the 60's, glass bedded the barrel and mounted a scope on it. Just has a natural feel to it as soon as you put it to your shoulder.

Oooo my fav. tool is my S&W 460 revolver.... it shoots the .45 and the .454 Casual... It is the fastest hand gun ever made. At muzzle the .44 mag shoots @ 1500 fps, at 100 yards the .454 Casual shoots @ 1500 fps, at 200 yards the .460 shoots @ 1500 fps... It has a kick to it but when out in the yard walking in heavy brush and a bear walks up on ya, ya want something that has a nasty kick.

Was not a good thing I know, "Bad Ju Ju". with this type of revolver people are blowing their fingers off because of the concussion from around the cylinder.. holding it wrong. If it had rounds in it and it had went off it would have taken half my face off.

but I was trying to make the same point with the pic to a few friends...
Good eye...
Thankx

(quoted from post at 07:25:56 11/12/14) I really like the DPMS LR, except you really notice the weight if you carry it a couple hours.

No doubt about that! I usually shoot off of a bipod or the roll bar on the Jeep, and don't carry the rifle very far. Mines about 12 1/2 lbs scoped with a loaded magazine.

I have an early universal M1 carbine, the one that almost all the parts are mil. surplus. shoots great, light and easy to carry. Second would be my Mossberg 472 30-30 then my SKS and mosin nagant. Not a gun snob by any means, mine are cheapies, some are a little rough, but they all do what they're supposed to and do it well.

Those old MN rifles look pretty crude but they sure do shoot good, don't they? Had a friend who had one of the carbines. Muzzle blast and the concussion from it were fierce, but it grouped very well indeed. The gent had about every variation of the MN ever made.

I've got a Mossberg 500, 20 gauge that I love. I can hit clay birds, doves, and ringnecks with it like no other. Put my dads Mossberg 12 gauge in my hands and my accuracy goes why down. Don't know why but thats the way its been. As for a deer rifle, I like my Savage 111 in .270 but my 94 winchester lever action 30/30 is my favorite. And for smaller caliber I have a .222 that I can shoot pretty accurately. Its a great gun that can knock a deer down at 100 yards and I've taken a groundhog at 250 with it.

I like the idea of the 3.5 rocket launcher! got a few stumps I'll bet it would work real well on and some ditches to dig.

Bet she'd make a real effective self defense weapon, too! (smile)
