Some tools are so much fun. Son ordered a Sig Sauer 716 in 308 while he was in the Army that was only offered to military personnel. Took almost 2 yrs to get it. It has been in my safe for another 1 1/2 yrs. He finally came and we fired about 100 rnds of 67, 68 stamped linked 7.62 ammo. This is what it did to a piece of 3/4 inch steel at 100 yds. Open sights. This man can shoot.

Impressive craters. Have access to a 7.62x39 and was always unimpressed with it. 30-30 class performance. Might be fun to see what my deer guns would do to a piece of steel. (We shoot everything into a piece of tree trunk cur about a foot and a half thick. - When it geets loaded, we burn it in an old disk blade and recover the lead for recycling.)

Haven't used it much. I can't hit the broad side of a barn from the inside with the peep sight. I will have it tapped for a scope by next summer.

AR500 steel makes the best target for big centerfire rifles. No craters from my .308's, but a 17 HMR @ 100 yds will put a very small dent in it! Go figure.

I loaded up some spritzers specifically for my .338 Savage 1:10 rifling and at 100hyds. I shot through both sides of a piece of well casing.. It looks like it drilled the first hole instead of blasting through it...

I got a great idea one day, I welded three pieces of truck frame rail together to resemble a head to waist man size target. Shot my Tikka .308 at 300 yards. Nice groupe, I thought to myself. Walked up to paint the target for more shots and saw that the 155 gr. Lapua bullets went right through that tough old frame rail target. At 600 yards the still left a nice crater in the steel.
