My good friend the plumber died this summer, from complications after knee surgery, so take good care of your knees! So, I can't call him, sure miss him. Anyhow, we have a frost proof sillcock at the cabin, and it was dripping last year, so I put a new washer in it, and it seemed fine for awhile. Lately when you turn it on it's like the washer is stuck to the seat, you have to open it all the way and then it pops and the water all comes at once. What is the solution? Maybe a brass washer under the screw head? Thanks for looking!

I think certain brands are prone to this. We have a couple of Woodford faucets, and the one on the front of the house doesn't get used for about six months out of the year. Every spring I have to fool around with it to get it to work. On the other hand, we have a rental house with a pair of (I think) Mansfield faucets and they never give any trouble.

russ, is your faucet one that has a spring loaded thingy on the washer end of the shaft? If so that is your problem.
