I picked up this lift off of craigslist last night for 75 bucks. I think it will come in pretty handy in the shop. I'm by myself a lot of the time.

I GUARANTEE that i CAN TELL you ANYTHING you WANT TO KNOW ABOUT THE
GENIE Model 512 lift. Great BUY!

I have one just like it. Been my best BUDDY for doing service work for the past 30 yrs. Works out great to take along in my van.

It used to be necessary for me to hire 4 "beffy" fellas just to remove those 25,000 btu. airconditioners mounted overhead doors in the local restaurants and stores. Fortunately, no-one got hurt. Later I was able to do the whole job myself because of the GENIE.

Great for lifting drywall in place on ceilings. Lifting engines in and outta vehicles.

Replacement parts are still avail. from the FACTORY.

You might want to straignten the pipe bracing on the back. Looks like mine where it kept hitting the back of my van when I was too tired to help it out of the van. A piece of 2/4 and a "C" clamp will be all you need.

I have all the tube extenders to allow the forks to go to 12 ft. high.

John,PA CAUTION: Take a piece of cotton and rub the cable to look for overstress from improper coiling on the spool. If the cotton sticks to the cable, becareful. It should lift 500 pounds easily, I have lifted 800 pounds with no damage.

Mine says its a 520 lift Vermette Hammond Indiana. I wish I had it last week when I put the front end together on my 65 Massey. I've got a wheel weight on it already and it worked good.

Whenever I purchased my Genie (VERMETTE) lift, almost 35 yrs ago., they were also offering the 520 model.

The difference was, then, the 520 had "outriggers" at the bottom of the frame that swung out for stabalization of the lift when lifting heavy articles up to 20 ft. high. It made the machinery extra heavy for me. So, I chose the Model 512. 500 lbs, 12 feet high.

At first glance I did not notice the outriggers at the bottom of yours.

Always use the knob on the right to lift and lower. The knob on the left if a manual brake.
On real cold days, the lift may need to warm-up a little, inside, so the lubricant in the mechanism warms up a little, or else the clutch dogs may not operate to hold the spool.

The company is still in business and you can google for instruction books, parts manuals, etc.

Take care

Because the sheet metal guys use them to lift large ducts, I've always known those lifts as a "duct host". And we have used them to lift transformers.
