I HAVE A HOT WATER COIL FOR A WOOD BOILER THE PROBLEM I HAVE I DONT HAVE ROOM IN SUPPLY PLENUM.HAS ANYONE PUT A COIL ON RETURN AIR SIDE.BLOWER MOTOR MAY OVER HEAT.NOT SURE WHAT OR WHERE TO PUT THE COIL. HELP NEEDED JIM

Yes it will work. Not the most ideal situation because of what you describe it will make that motor run hot and fail sooner but with good airflow your air out of the coil wont be real hot anyways.

You could always do a staple up radiant heat installation. It takes a lot of time and effort to install but very nice even heat.

As someone else said - yes it will work, and the person that installed mine did this, and I did not realize how close he placed this to the blower motor. At the time I worked at a manufacturer that made those type motors, and I spoke with an engineer that designed those. He told me to move the coil as soon as I could as otherwise I would be replacing that motor every 2-3 years due to the fact it would cook the lubrication out of the bearings, and cause premature bearing failure. I took his advice and had it done right, moving the coil above the furnace and AC coil. Not sure about what you keep your water temp at, but I run mine an average of 150 degrees, which means the incoming air over the motor is about that same temp. The motors are designed to operate at normal room temperature ambient air over them. There is a reason why they place the motor/blower before the heat exchanger in furnaces. I know I did not wish to risk replacing those motors that frequently, and those motors have become fairly expensive.
