dewalt impact

I was hoping to get some opinions on a 18 volt dewalt 1/2'' drive cordless impact I saw at tsc for $199. Have any of you had any experience with them.
Thanks in advance
Josh

i have had one for apx 3 years,it's good on the farm or putting in the truck on a trip. but still not a match for a good air inpact. but can take anywere i also take at least 2 batt with me if i need to use it.

I've got the 18V XRP2 (non-lithium) version. It's O.K. but not great. I had trouble breaking lug-nuts loose with anything but a fresh, fully charged battery. For many other things it is handy, but I'm not thrilled with it. I got the bare-tool for $80 on Amazon a few years ago.

I love mine. Dont know how I got along without it. I already had DeWalt cordless stuff so I had extra batteries. I think I paid $300 with 2 batteries and a charger

love mine. I don't expect it to match my air impact but it does a great job. i use mine alot on the farm. air impact only comes out a couple times a year!

They make two, the larger has 300 ft lb, I have one, bought my boys and Son in law for Xmas. about 3 years ago, absolutely couldn't live with out them. I even use it in the shop instead of draggin that hose. Had to put a switch in one, parts are cheap online.

I have two and love it. Enough power most of the time and no air line or air exhaust to deal with when dusty. Best deals are usually at Lowes. Good luck

i have had mine about 6 years and have the 3/8 drive also and love them both.
i have both types of battery's and prefer the lithium battery's the best , i think they make the impact work a little better.

I have two 18 volt 1/2 inch impacts. The one with the rocker trigger has way more torque than the other one but I ABSOLTLY HATE the rocker trigger. It is designed backwards for me. The top should be tighten and it is loosen. I spin half the nuts off when tightening them because the stupid trigger is backwards of any other impact I have every owned.

I like the 20 volt impact much better as far as the control/triggers. The trouble is the 20 volt does not seem to be as heavy grade as the 18 volt tools.

The picture is the heavier duty 18 volt impact but it has the rocker trigger I HATE!!!!

FWIW, I've been pleased with the Craftsman impact...they're saying 300 ft/lbs, and around $160 when not on sale, includes a 4AH lithium battery and charger.

Have no idea how it stacks up to the dewalt, as I have all Craftsman cordless stuff, but it works for me.

JD Seller I have the same two impacts for 7 years now.
I like them both but I have to agree about the rocker switch being backwards, I have the same problem you do with it, I thought it was just me !

(quoted from post at 04:19:38 10/28/14) I have had a Dewalt an currently have a 18 volt Milwaukee which has way more torque then the dewalt

I have a Milwaukee 18 volt fuel, has as much power as my Snap On air gun. I also have a Dewalt 20 volt 3/8 and love it. Just got the Milwaukee because I wanted plenty of power.

I have an 18v dewalt. Got it off ebay for around $100 for just the impact. Already committed to dewalt, so I have 5 batteries and chargers. I hate dewalt ni-cd batteries. I use 3000 ma-hr Ni-MH after market batteries. Get them from ebay for around $40. They last for years. Oldest one is 7 years old.

As for which impact has the most torque, I think the dewalt is rated at or around 500 lb-ft. I carry it in the truck. Does 99% of what I need to do. Don't leave home without it. I also carry a 3/4 inch ratchet and 3 ft of cheater pipe for the other 1%.

My decision is based on the fact that I have almost all the dewalt cordless tools made and have had 17 years of good service with dewalt.

I think the same thing about the trigger being backwards. It takes a little time to get used to it after not using it for a while.

That's been my experience also,.... my Milwaukee impact definitely has more torque than my Dewalt.

We pulled one out from behind the seat of the duramax last spring and changed a trailer tire with it. After it had sat behind the seat all winter. I wouldn't hesitate to get one.
