Have any of you guys had any luck rebuilding a floor jack? I picked this one up at a sale. It'll lift me but not my tractor.

Sure enough! But.....you have to be able to identify enough info on the unit to be able to buy the right seals kit for it.....often more difficult than the work.

If that was sold by NAPA they may be able to locate parts. Check oil level as low level will let it lift but not much.

depends on who made it for them We bought a new 1 from NAPA years ago, didn't work from day 1, couldn't be fixed, They sent it back and got us a walker brand.

No luck at napa. I'll have to check out the you tube thing. Probably be easier to buy a Chinese one but this appears to be a well made jack. Made in Racine Wis.

Almost any hydraulic shop should be able to rebuild it or get you the parts to rebuild it.

They have the kit for 48.00. How bad was it to fix yours? I've got nothing in the jack so I think I will take a shot. Thanks for the help fellers.

My first floor jack was cheap chinese made. It lasted about 20 years. Then I went to NAPA and looked at their jacks. I told them I wanted to buy a good jack and a rebuild kit too. They just laughed, no kits available for any of their jacks. So I went to HF across the street, bought a 3 ton jack for about $70. It looked identical to the NAPA jack at about 1/3 the cost. Good luck find a rebuild kit.

I've repaired mine twice in the 35 years I've had it. Both times it was the main ram seal, obvious failure, the seal was split.

Found the seal at Wesley Seals, an Oring/hydraulic seal specialty shop in Hurst TX. Nicest man you'll ever meet! Mail him the old one, he'll fix you up.

It's a heavy duty, polyurethane (I think) seal. Seen them in other jack applications, like pallet jacks, bottle jacks. Don't try to substitute Polypacks, or anything else, it won't work. BTDT!

If you will get it in your head Jacks are simple You should be able to fix it... I have a few like that (NAPA) What gives the most problems is the check balls I have been able to match them up from left over carb parts... If you do not see any issues with the check balls and no trash/rust completely disassemble it if its a cup issue you will see it no doubt.... Once you get it apart you will then know if you need a cup are a complete kit... Its a bottle jack laid on its side...

Since I fixed this jack I have done quite a few... Jacks are like small engines if you have to pay top dollar to fix it it may pay to buy a new one... Those NAPA jacks are a nice jack and worth saving...

Normally the seals are standard the cup is another issue... I paid $350 to have one custom made for a old Norco transmission jack I brought back in the late 70's are early 80's.. I am sure the place i went thru made out well on it... The jack was a old friend and the best transmission jack I have ever used bar none...

There's a guy that posts on Garage Journal that goes by HiBall. He seems to be quite knowledgeable and can source parts. If you have no luck here, try him.

pretty simple, I took lots of pictures during tear down, and simply replaced seals in reverse order. Works great.

Not difficult at all, providing you have the proper rebuild kit for your make & model of jack.

Try this, it should have everything you need . . . .
