Thread retaining product

Has anyone used a product that can be used on threads on a nut or bolt to act like a ny-lock nut or a locking nut? I have a hydraulic pump on my tractor with a controlable flow and the needle screw that controls the rate of flow keeps backing off increasing the drop speed. I would like something that can be applied and stays put to act like a non permanent, non hardening "threadholder". I would need to set the speed after the valve is back on the tractor and in use.

Upsetting or deforming the threads on the needle scares me a little because its a steel needle in an aluminum housing.

Anyone had this issue before?
Thanks in advance
Frank

Try Lock- tight. It comes in many different strengths and also for different applications. You can get it at NAPA or any other parts store.

You may whish to Google "Thread locker properties Chart Loctite Innovations" and view the chart. I've been using Loctite on Lm1500/J79's, Lm2500,Rolls Royce SPEY and other Gas Generators used in the Aero industry for years as well as hydraulics on mobile equipment ,MAGNETOS and cap screws that hold ring gears to the carrier of differentials with total success. The above chart shall point you towards the correct DESIGNATED product "NUMBER" for your application. I have no vested interest or monetary investment in the above product, but totally am satisfied with the product. Be careful which grade of LOCTITE you use as the grades vary just like the difference between black and white

I use a product called Vibra-Tite. You apply it as a liquid to the screw threads and let it dry, takes about 15 minutes, And then install. It is a plastic type coating that will let you adjust many times and stays where you put it. We were told at work that HD used it at their assembly plants due to the inherent vibration in their engines. I buy on ebay but it may be available elswhere.

I guess the loc-tite patent must have finally run out. You can now purchase Monkey spit in series 100,. 200, and 300 which covers most of the applications covered by loc-tite purple, blue and red.

If you could spray it down with carb cleaner or brake cleaner, then apply a little water and a dab of Gorilla Glue.
