Husqvana Saw Fuel Tank Breathers

I'm presuming that there was a problem here.

We've got two saws - 435e and 445e, and both have started to cut out. On the 435 I found that releasing the fuel cap seemed to have to do with the problem. When ordering parts for maintenance there was mention of replacing the fuel tank breather - which I'd never seen.

To see it you have to take off the starter housing and the plate below it. Then you can see the breather down a hole at the top RHS of this area - it is at the top of the fuel tank.

Both of ours had a black rod showing, which turns out to have about 4 small deformations in it, and signs of buildup of dust etc in those.

The replacement is a valve with filter built in.

Yep, I've had those filters act up too, mostly in the winter if snow gets remelted in them somehow, same as on a Jonsrud too.
