Verizon does only one thing well. That is CHARGE!!!!!! IF you will be new to Verizon be ready for your bill to go UP!!! It will never go down. Also in many rural areas Verizon's coverage is not very good. US Cellular has better coverage in North-east Iowa but then US Cellular did not have very good national plans years ago.

I feel the same way about AT&T. We're in a fringe area of their coverage, and reception is weak. But we are completely outside of Verizon or Sprint coverage. AT&T bills for basic service are a long list of fees, and ours always go up.

I've gotten excellent service from Millenicom for a few years now. When I first got it - Verizon was also selling it but for more money and less bandwidth. I assume service will just get more expensive now. But - I also assume that Millenicom was having problems? This year, they raised rates, cancelled email service, etc.

We went to Page Plus which uses Verizons system. They have been good for coverage around me and its $40 a month for unlimited talking and texting and you get some data for that price. Smart phone is $5 a month more. I got rid of my smart phone, it drove both of us crazy! We went to a Motorola flip phone. For those of you in Michigan, my Page Plus dealer is Scott at 517-546-2200 in Pinckney. He has been great with his service.

What good is that for someone who relies on Millenicom for all their household computer Internet and data use? We currently pay $90 per month for 20 gigabytes of bandwidth and have five computers hooked to it. I have yet to find any other plan here in NY or MI that comes close. We have no access to a hard-wired connection.

I assume Verizon put the squeeze on Millenicom and left them with little choice but to sell their accounts. A mobile virtual network operator operates at the mercy of its supplier; with bandwidth demand driven by 4G, Verizon probably figured it didn't need to sell cheap bandwidth to keep its pipes full.

Kind of a shame. I liked Millenicom. Great customer service. I must admit I was a little ticked when they raised their rates - but they were still the best deal around. We live in three different places in two states and having the portability of the Millenicom setup to run home computers has been great. Not sure what we'll do now. Have to wait and see what Verizon it going to do to ruin it. That being said - our home phone also travels with us and that is the Verizon "Home Phone Connect" wireless system. It has been great. Had to put an antenna on my roof though to make it work here in northern Michigan. Same for Millenicom. We have antennas all over the place.
