Water Well Switch

Hello,

This switch is from the water well I posted a few weeks ago. New pump and new tank on that deal.
Anyhow, here is the old switch. The owner was complaining that there was a hum or low buzzing sound while the pump was on. The spring in the picture hooks on the U looking thing. It was off, and hard to see unless you REALLY LOOKED! LOW tension on the contacts, if any,is the result. Looking close the contacts are totally shot! I thought I'd pass that along...........

Your points only look burned on one side, you could of moved the wires over to the other side and been ok, providing you fixed the spring problem. When I wire that kind of switch on a 120V pump I only break the hot wire, that way the points on the other side stay like new for backup at a later date.

Hello Russ from Mn,

The motor was 230V 3 wire. The picture does not show the contacts well, But they are shot!,

You northern guys don't have the problem, but down here in the south fanatical fire ants are eager to sacrifice their bodies on those little twin altars.

Hello JerryS,

The switch was the first thing that was replaced. Short cycling, and low spring pressure, does a job on the contacts,
