I have a 1999 Dodge 3500 with the Diesel. Five speed manual transmission. 139 inch wheel base. two piece drive shaft. Greatly in need of the drive shaft. Have been looking for two months and can't find one. Dodge says it is no longer available.Shop wants 1400.00 to rebuild mine. Really don't have that kind of money. Medical bills are eating me up. Anyone know of any.

Set it up with your zip code and how many miles you want to search. It will search all the craigslists in your range.

We use midwest drive shaft in st charles illinois. Good people to deal with, repairs and rebuilding, also custom make em too.

$1400 for rebulding a driveshaft? I would not expect to spend half that even for brand new everything. Seriously what is wrong with it that could possibly cost that much?

Try car-part.com, its a website that searches from multiple salvage yards, you can pick the area you want to look. Not all places subscribe to this service though so dont expect this to be all that's available. Call your local salvage yards too, some or most of them can search around on their computer too.[/url]

Using car-part.com, I searched both 2wd and 4wd using your info and found places seeling them for around $200 and less. Seems like a smoking deal considering the other option you posted. Also I would try another drivetrain place if you want the option of new/rebuilt.

Thanks I will check them out. The strap piece that holds it to the rear end. Broke dropping the shaft. Which was twisted so bad.The sliding yoke broke the front section rear section was also damaged.Doesn't take long at 80 to mess things up.

Last shaft I had my local shop build cost $350. New tube, they reused the ends, new joints, and balanced.

do a search for Cummins forum dot com. Search there for the classifieds. there's guys there there are parting out their trunks you might be able to find one fairly cheap.

Probably good that it's not available from Dodge because a new one would make $1400 to fix yours sound CHEAP.
