Stihl 010 AV Question

Hello,

Months back my neighbor gave me this saw to check.
Looked bad and did not run. I thought there was a line coming out of the tank on the left side and the right line goes into the carb. The line was disintegrated, hard to see what it was.
Is there some sort of check valve that goes there?
It runs fine except gas comes out of that side.
Is a check valve what I need?

that other line sounds like the vent line. Its there so the tank pressure can equalize with the atmosphere and fuel will still flow to the carburetor. I am not familiar with the 010, but on some of their saws, they used a small screw inside of a fuel line for a vent. It vented around the threads.

I have also seen repairs done using an Echo fuel tank vent, if there was room for it.

Hello t.r.k.

It has good compression, so I want to get it running. Sloppy assembly by someone trying to get it started. Lose fasteners and missing top cover, which houses the choke assy. A line and screw now work for mow as a vent,

no, no check valve. Could be a fuel return line. Vent hose is located in the top of the fuel tank.

Hello 2x4,

There is no port on the carburetor for a fuel line return that I can see. Fuel tank top may be vented, but no hose I can see that is a vent. I think the vent goes where the hole is on the tank under the filter cover,
