Need help finding a wire attachment

I'm installing a surveillance system (to protect my tools) with some cables running overhead which needs a suspension wire to support the video cables which I have.

What I'm looking for is what the phone co use for their phone wires, a wedge type clamp for attaching wires. I look everywhere but couldn't find any. Does anyone know where to look!

I often have trouble finding stuff because the name I know them by is not what they're actually called.

Just to help with future searches and to improve your "Google-fu", I stooged around trying to figure out what they were called and once I had a handle on that I searched by that name.

Several places have them, I just figured HD would be the handiest.

My pole barn is 150 ft from house. I ran phone lines to barn when I ran the wire and water lines. However, I found it easier to use driveway motion sensors from HF, use charger and rechargeable batteries to keep from replacing batteries. The alarm goes off in master bedroom.

I have very few false alarms. I don't have a mouse issue or birds in barn, because that would set the alarm off. Sometimes I think ghosts may set it off, but that is very rare.

George, I also have those motion detector driveway alarms. Or did. I had a system that allowed up to 4 detectors, with just one reciever. They all slowly died after just a few months of use. New batteries made no difference. I really didn't care, because I was totally tired and irritated of those things anyhow. Birds would set them off. Blowing leaves set them off, even dust from the road would set them off. The whole system will be going in the trash one day soon.

Find a friendly phone man. He may have some old P clamps in a scrap bin. Sometimes they can share sometimes not. Tommy

Electricians carry a product like that for use on anchoring overhead wires. No idea what they"re called!

George,
I also have the same driveway motion sensors from HF & they work great, BUT recently had a problem & the sheriff who showed up said he couldn't do anything unless I had proof, A Pic or video!

That's why I'm investing time & $$ into this idea!

Trail cameras are another way but battery's don't last & video's aren't the best for detail (license plate numbers)!

So far, I haven't had any breakins. I even put a motion sensor that doesn't work outside next to the overhead door.

I know what you mean, need proof and cameras may not give you enough proof either. Good luck.

I designed my pole barn so the doors would be facing the house and a security light over the doors.

It's only a matter of time before someone breaks in, just a fact of life.

My cheapie HF driveway sensors eat batteries, so I pruchased rechargeable batteries and connected the batteries to a 9v powersupply from Radio Shack. The output of PS is exactly 9v. Keeps my 9v batteries fully charged and not overcharged.

I've had some of those motion sensor driveway monitors before and they can be very irritating with false alarms then they broke. I sure like knowing when someone is coming in too. I wish there was a cheap magnetic sensor system that could be buried beside the drive.

You do not want anything that will compress or flatten the coaxial cable. You either need to use coax with a "messenger" wire or lash the coax to a steel cable overhead.
