99 F350 brake lights

My one ton flat deck has Grote tail lights...real truck style with 4 wire connectors ( I can get the part number if it matters). All was working well, but the bolt housing broke off one and it was dangling and obscuring my licene plate.

It still all functioned but I got pulled over and was told to replace the whole unit. So a month later it still is hanging and working...but I order the proper replacement light. A couple days ago sudenly I loose all blinkers and four way flashers. The marker lights still work when the head lights are on.

I figure time to put the new unit on. Unfortunatly there is no change. I only have the running lights or marker on when the headlight is on. No flashers or turn indicators or brake lights.

What am I missing here? Grounding issue? But where should I start checking and why would the running light work but nothing else if there is a grounding issue.

I did try the old one back and it still was the same.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Grant

Sounds like a ground or a fuse some vehicles are wired that if your dash lights
are out then you have no tail lights blown fuse

Check all the fuses. I do mean all. Ford has several locations for fuses on the newer pickups. I just replaced one today that was in the cab that kept the trailer lights form working. All the fuses under the hood where fine but there are some under the dash too.

Get your operators manual out and check to see if there are different fuses on that circuit.

Thanks everyone, I've wiggled connections, relays and fuses. I searched online and the "multi function switch" turn signal switch basically seems to be the common problem with brake lights and turn signals. Guess I'll open the stearing colum and see what I can find.

No one will probably see this but I just wanted to post what the outcome was.

I finally took it to my local mechanic...it needed an oil change and lube anyway and I'm too busy.
Basically just bad connections in the harness. All the switches and relays are fine. He said just dirt and oxidation on contacts finally stoped it from working. He suggested a good cleaning every year and a littel dielectric greese on any electrical connections.

Thanks for all the advice. Grant
