It gets plenty cold here in NW Ohio..I put all of my cordless tool batteries(about 10) in a heated garage for the winter..Do you think this is necessary?...do you put yours in too for cold weather or can the batteries just stay out in cold shop?

Some people put them in the deep freezer. Make your choice and replace the batteries when they die. Probably doesn't make much difference on a dry cell battery.

My battery of choice is NiMh. When we have sub-zero temps, the battery won't take a charge, just like when the battery is too warm.

So I keep batteries on the floor of truck to keep them warm when I'm driving. Then put the batteries that need charged on passanger's seat. Recharge them when I get back to pole barn or house.

The batteries for my cordless drill stay in the shop year round. The shop is heated only when I am working out there, which is not very often in COLD weather. The original batteries lasted less than one year. The replacement batteries have served very well for probably 8 to 10 years now.
