and a bunch more not painted . Its An interesting story why two sections of scaffolding are painted,. Many years ago good friend of mine was working on an old house he and his new wife bought,He said it was tough doing a repair off the ladders.I said I have scaffold you can borrow. He said,no I dont want to borrow it,i will be doing the repairs a liitle at a time for a long time.I said ,use it,I know where you live if I need it,and I Dont use all the frames often anyhow,Well about a year later,he brought the scsffold back ,he said, when my wife and I got done using it we painted it your colors,He knew my colors(blue and white}from seeing my handtools in the back of my truck.,,,,just a story about tools I Wanted to post on tool talk

Larry, I wish you were MY neighbor, as I need to borrow some scaffolding for a year or two!
Seems like you have a good neighbor, as well!

that is a good story, more end like mine, loan it
out and when it comes back months later something
is missing or broke

I borrowed the bosses' personal truck to use for a day. The gas gauge was low, so I filled the tank before I returned his truck. He was really surprised that I had filled the tank, as I only drove the truck for about 35 miles.

About 10 years ago, I had a couple of carpenters doing a remodel on my house that used scaffolding similar to what you showed. The main carpenter had an extreme temper that would go off at a second's notice. The hardware store had their delivery truck show up at the house, and for some reason, the carpenter blew up at everybody there, blew up at the delivery driver and then called me at work and started to chew me out. At the end of that week, he took off and never came back. (That was fine with me. His work really wasn't that great) Anyway, he left his scaffolds in my basement and never came back to get them. I do a small chuckle every time I see them because I know he needed them after he left my job site, but was too embarrassed to come back and ask for them back. He has since gone out of the carpentry business because he couldn't keep any helpers.
If he would have called me back and asked for them, I would have given them back, but I was not about to call him up and tell him to pick them up.

You should have offered him more schaffolding.LOL I have a neighbor I sometimes borrow tools from and on occasion something will break. I NEVER return it broken. I either fix it or pay to fix it or he gets a new one.

Good story! Years ago I borrowed my brothers rototiller and had to till pretty hard dirt at a new house I bought to put grass seed down. I used it for pretty much all summer then painted it before I gave it back to him. He was surprised.

I am glad you have a good borrower, I posted about my brother borrowing stuff and not returning it. He usually will ask but some times we are not there so if it is one of our dads tools ( I am the youngest of 4 boys,I stayed on the farm and farm with the old guy,) he just helps himself to it. I don't feel I have any right to tell him he can not do it, simply it is not my tools and I am a son just like him. I borrow them too, but bring them back, I'm just younger and wiser! LOL

I borrowed and 3/4 drive torque wrench from a retired heavy eqpt mechanic and when I returned it he went over to a little board and erased my name and the tool from a short list. He said it made it easier to remember who had what.
He had many many tools and even had three of what I had borrowed.

I borrowed a 1/2 drill and took it back the next day. As I was walking back across the yard I must have dropped the chuck. I felt so bad. I looked for it everywhere. I went to the store that day and bought one to fit drill. --Needless to say the neighbor will again let me borrow his tools again because he trust me.
