I have a fm magneto of a ve4d 4 cylinder wisconsin I get a good spark off the coil but can't get any spark off of the terminals in the cap I would appreciate any help on this mag. thanks Don

Check for a carbon tracked cap or burned through
rotor.

Is the brass rod in the cap long enough to touch the coil? Do you have a rotor in it?

+ 1 on suggesting carbon/cracks in the cap. Have an old Merc
outboard with mag, wouldn't start. Checked cap with ohm
meter, showed resistance between all wire ports/holes.

On most magnetos: What this is telling me is that your rotor is not turning check and see. Crank engine around and watch your rotor. Put engine to top dead cylinder #1 and check your rotor with the cap.I bet that the gear inside of Magneto might have jumped. Your rotor might be off. This means that you have spark but not going where you need it to go to. Yes I do have a wisconsin engine on my I.H. Skid steer loader. I do have a magneto on it to.

No gear inside of those mags used on the ve4 Wisconsin"s. Rotor turns with the magnet.
