I have a 1952 farmall super m I can run tractor for 20 min and then it spuders and stalls if I try to restart it right after it does the same thing. But if I wait 5 min then restart get about 2-5 min run time then does it again but if I let it set for 1 hr or more i get 10-20min then starts all over again.don't know if it is fuel or electrical problems.

There's a gas restriction somewhere.
I have an AC D-10, I was with a caravan on a hot Aug. day and starting out in the morning it ran great. We stopped for a morning break, and after the break it didn't run very well, finally had to load it on the rescue trailer. Latter found that the float had been set wrong. When the gas and carb was cool there was no problem, but after the carb and gas got warmed up it was not getting enough gas to make the hills.

Check the screen in the carburetor inlet. Can pull the sediment bowl too and check the fuel flow.

may have bad egnition coil, try to check spark just after it stalls,or have a spark wire off as it is running about 1/4 in. from plug. If you loose spark you have found the problem. you cold also have a point/condenser problem.

A lot of possibilities here.....
Since you say you are having the same problem after loosening the gas cap, that eliminates one possible problem. Time for some serious diagnostics....
It would appear that the problem would more likely be in the fuel system. Usually, ignition problems are quite sudden with little warning - like sputtering or losing power.
First, when it sputters and stalls, you should check for fuel flow. Take the fuel line off the fuel pump and see if you have fuel flowing out - if it is a gravity feed to the fuel pump (usually the tank is above the engine).
If you have good fuel supply getting to the fuel pump, check that the pump is actually pumping, and not blocking fuel flow.
If these checks are OK, take a look into the float bowl in the carb. Possibility is that there could be some "foreign" material blocking a passage.
If the fuel system seems to pass all of the checks, the problem could be in the ignition system. As previously stated, when it stalls, check for spark. Should be blue and jump a quarter inch. If the spark is weak, could be a coil shorting out internally (from heat) or a condenser that is heat sensitive. The condition of the points will usually tell on a bad condenser.
Some other more unlikely potential problems are bad (high resistance) ignition switch, bad ground on the distributor, water in fuel, and likely a whole list of things that I didn't think of.
Keep in mind that an engine needs 3 things to run:
1) compression
2) properly timed spark
3) Proper fuel/air mixture.
Any of those things missing and the engine will stall. You can mostly rule out compression problems, as that would cause the engine not to run at all. That leaves fuel and spark problems.
Good luck. Be persistent and you will solve this one!

Could it be vapor lock in addition to all the other things gas related...

suspect fuel first, but could be coil, condenser, or bad ignition switch.

Another thing to try is to see if it will run on starting fluid. If you can catch it as it tries to die and starting fluid takes care of it then the spark is not the problem. I have noticed that starting fluid may not work with oil bath air cleaners.

always check spark at stall. if it has good spark.. move on to fuel.

IMHO.. your situation sounds like fuel
