fair price for old welder

I have an opportunity to purchase an older stick Welder. It is a "Marquette Farm Welder"
Model no. 64C, a little rusty and will need new leads but it is all there and I believe it is in operating condition. I would like to offer the owner a fair price for the machine, it would come in handy. The price range I have seen $75-$200. Any idea what it's worth?

From I see at auctions, and flea market I'd say $35 to $50 leads will not be cheap, and will be in your final cost.
See Lincoln tombstones from $75 to $150 often, and they have leads.
Just what I've seen, use your thinking to what you want to do.

Have you ever used a Marquette welder? My old machine is certainly not for sale for any of the numbers I'm reading tonight.

If your going to be using that AC weld for any time then you will find and older machine like this one will weld better than the newer/lighter welders.

I would say the value would be under $150 if it does work. To buy new leads will cost you more than that. So when your all done you will have a good welder but not necessarily a "cheap" welder.

(quoted from post at 18:56:36 09/01/14) ac tapped coil? If I remember the heats are changed by plugging the lead in another position. About $50

Yup. Gotta keep the mud daubers nests out of the holes, but otherwise it's a good system.

A $100 sounds fair if you are going to use it. It's probably worth more as salvage though because of all the copper they used back then.
