I have a fellow wanting to do some trading with me. He has Echo CS-680 chainsaw, with a 24 inch bar, he wants to trade me. He has only ran one tank of fuel through the saw. It is several years old. It looks like new and seems to run well. He has shoulder problems and can't use the saw anymore. I cut up a wood chunk and it cut well.

I really don't need another chainsaw and I am pretty much a Stihl chain saw person but he is looking at a lawn tractor that I would like to sell this fall. The saw is more likely to sell over the fall/winter.

I see they sell for around $600 new. I would have about half that in it.

So do you think it is a good item???

I have a top handel model 3400 Echo 12" bar thats about 10 years and it has gave me no problems. I have never used one of their big sawsall my other saws are Stihl and one Husky. That Echo CS 680 has one feature that I like . It has an adjustable chain oiler that is easy to get to.I know some of my Stihls have preset oilers. My little Echo has the adjustable oiler and it comes in handy when cutting dead wood that is real dry.

If it's in good shape and runs well I wouldn't be at all scared of it. Echo is a real sleeper for quality and value as far as I'm concerned and I wrench on saws part time, was a Husky/Jred dealer.

Echo used to be good quality but I am not impressed with the box store el cheapo's. They have a following but it is smaller than husky. One complaint was some handled like a cement block!!!!

Personally I think it would be a bargain for $300.00 ---If you need it.
I have dealt with chainsaw repair, buying, selling, for many years and although Echo is a very good saw, they are somewhat like Makita/Dolmar , they don't sell like Stihl and Husqvarna.
With that said, I would try to have less then $250.00 in it if you planned to resell.
In today's economy, I am having trouble selling Stihl and Husqvarna saws.
I have found that the vast majority of people will buy the cheaper brands like Poulan, Craftsman, Homelite and even the Chinese copies rather then to buy the higher quality saws!

I don"t know much about Echo saws, like you, I too am a big Stihl guy. ALL my stuff is stihl, except a leaf blower grandpa got me for Christmas, its a craftsman, but it is lacking on power.

Anywhoo.....id say if you have half or less than new price in it, it would be a ok deal, depending on what you are going to want for it.

I am the type that will buy a brand new one from the dealer over one that has been used once or twice, for $100 less. Just my way I guess, lol

Yep good saw, I bought one new I think four years ago, I could use another if you want to sell. Let me know, I think you are around Cascade.
