best choices

Sad for girl, girl's family and instructor's family. But maybe the lessons started at the graduate-student level when they should have been at a freshman level. An automatic Uzi? A small number of 9-year-olds might be ready for that. For most, graduating from a BB gun to a singleshot .22 might be a wiser choice.

Why would anyone take it off single fire for a 9 year old? The parents should be charged, the instructor, well, he is dead, the range should be charged, all with negligent homicide. The girl will never be the same either. Terrible situation.
We teach a lot of youngsters to shoot. Teach them safety and how to handle a firearm. Start them out with 1 round and let them work up. If they aren't paying attention, or act like they are bored, the firearms go up.

Just answer me one ? WHY SHOULD THE GUN RANGE BE CHARGED ? As far as I can tell you are either a Lawyer trying to get some easy money, or someone that thinks that money grows on trees. Remarks like that is why insurance is sky high. How can the range be responsible for what a stupid person does?
My rant for the day.

Lets get real. Having a kid play with a uzi is stupid. Kids that young are still developing, and don't have the motor control or the maturity to operate one safely. The guy doing the "training" was stupid, the parents were stupid, and the range was stupid. If somebody gets sued over this, good. The idiots need to be culled.

I don't agree with any lawsuit and it seems the cull was already done. Still can't believe anyone thought that was a good idea.

I am neither. Just a broke cowboy that plays with tractors and guns.
If the range can't set policies that protect their users they should be charged.
Here on our ranch, we can't charge anyone to shoot. We don't have the proper policies in place, nor the proper insurance, and that is for just shooting hand guns and hunting rifles. I can't imagine what hoops a range would have to go through to allow full auto firearms. But obviously they didn't have any safety precautions in place!!
I have never shot anything in Full Auto mode, but from watching videos, even full grown men let the barrel creep up! and they turn a 9 year old girl loose with full auto?
The Range needs to accept some responsibility also!!
