I've only owned 18v dewalt ions. Was thinking of getting both my kids a 20v dewalt 4 pk which has the thinner ion battery. So what do you think of them?

They won't use them everyday like I do. Lucky if they use them a few times a year.

I needed to replace one of my drills over the weekend so off to Lowes I went to buy a 20V Dewalt like that but drill only because I rarely use the other stuff.
As usual they have kits and packages of several makes and models on sale at prices to lure the weak minded and they had the 18V Dewalt set with drill, impactor, saws-all, light, two batteries for $199 vs like $349? regular price. Since I could dream up a reason to own the impactor I bought the set. Have only used the drill so far but used it quite a bit. Its a nice drill with decent torque, speed and battery life, certainly more than good enough for the average home owner. The 20V Lith Ion should be nothing but better than what I bought,, way past home owner quality.

Butch,
That's what I thought $199 for 4 pk. I just returned from lowes and the price was $299.

Either the sale is over or it's a miss print.

Check the post with the link to Lowes, they jumped the price.

Sorry no adoptions. I'm only doing this because both my kids love to borrow my 1/4 impact, which I hate doing without.

Let me know where it's still $199.

Lowes is selling the 20v for $320. Ebay is $265.

Hmm, just checked the web site and it is now $299 as you said. Saturday AM there was a huge stack of them and $199, guess I lucked out, for once.

Lowes sales usually end on MOnday night.

George the sale ended 8/25/14. There was someone else posting about the deal on here earlier.

What I have found is the 20v has more force when first charged but the 18V seems to hang in there longer and seems to last longer before the batteries go bad.

Sounds like I was a few days late. If lowes had a
sale once, they will have it again. Usually a black
Friday thing.

Thanks, that's what I was look for. I didn't think the small 20v battery could pack much of a punch, only rated at 2 amp-hr.

Coming to the party late but I will throw in my .02. After wearing out the clutch and chuck on my 18v I had used commercially for many years I just went and bought the 20v dewalt. I didn't do my do diligence and study up on them, because I didn't think dewalt would sell a wimpy 20 volt drill and didn't realize they were only 2 amp hour batteries. I will now purchase the 4ah ones, but the biggest "PROBLEM" is the motor stops so abruptly when you let off the trigger that the chuck keeps loosening and my bits fall out or slip. It doesn't matter how hard I tighten the chuck it will still come loose in short order.

My wife got me the circular saw, sawzall, impact, drill, and light kit i love it. I bought the 20v grease gun so now have three battery's and two chargers and I love it.
