JD 1050 Hour Meter

Recently bought this with 300 hours on the meter. Looking thru the history of repair n maint., I found an entry of work done at 475 hours. That would mean that there is really 775 hour on this 1984 tractor. That is why I asked the question. There is no indication that the meter was replaced.

If I subscribe to your T Z theory, there could be 1000's of hours on it.

My comment was tongue-in-cheek. I don"t think an hour meter can/could run backward under any normal circumstances. I had a 1050 several years ago and it was a good machine but not perfect. Brakes were a constant issue and expensive to replace It was too light and had no power steering. The positives were lots of power for it"s size, seemingly ran on fumes and had the most ideal gear ranges. I used it mainly with a finish mower to mow 2 acres of grass and to work the garden. I sold it 9 years ago for $5k and it had 1499 hours. I see them selling for that and more now and many have thousands of hours on them.

I went to check the odometer digits and there are 4 digits for hours and 1 for tenths. Much to my surprise it read 803.2! How this happened I have no idea. I truly believe that it is the correct hours based on maintenance logs.
