I finally got the time to return the computer to Best Buy to exchange it. THE same guy that worked on it the last time and told me the sound card or something was soldered wrong , looked at it yesterday. HE told me he had to verify what was wrong with the computer, AGAIN. He goes through the computer and tells me he found a setting that is wrong. He changed something and the rear port would then make my speakers work. Fine all is well again.
So I when I came home I hooked everything back up and my speakers worked out the rear port fine.
So last night I went through all of my older programs and installed them an any needed up dates so they would work on Windows 8. This also included my laser printer that I had a real bear of a time getting to work on this computer.
So all is well as far as I am concerned with my computer when I went to bed last night.
I start up the computer today and it seems fine. I played around most of the day on it as I just did not feel like going out to work or anything today. Kind of tired after along week.
This evening I go to YouTube to listen to some music. SPEAKERS NOT WORKING AGIAN !!!! ArGGGGGG.
I go through all of the setting and can't find anything that is set wrong that I can change at least.
The speakers are Logitech model S120. These are a simple analog speaker. They will work fine in the head phone port on the front of the computer but zero out the rear port.
The sound card is a Realtek High Definition Auto card.
When I go to setting that is the only choice I have for the speakers. It does not list anything else. When I go to setup the speakers it only shows the front port as being able to run the speakers. Online they show you being able to chose which port you want the out board sound to come from but I can't seem to get this to enable on my computer. I even made sure that the sound card had the latest driver installed.
So is it a setting issue like he told me yesterday??? Do I actually have a "bad" connection in the sound card like he told me two weeks ago??? What changed in my computer from yesterday to today???
I will tell you this much. Microsoft really dropped the ball on Windows 8. I started out on computers back in 1996 with Windows 95. Then up to Windows 98. Then to Windows XP professional. So I have been using Windows based products for right at 20 years. This operating system is the hardest I have ever used. It seems like they deliberately changed things so that anything you knew about the older systems is no longer relevant. Even something as simple as down loading a link to your favorites is twice as hard to get it into a new folder.
I think they had to go through hoops to get this to work with touch screen. All the additional programing does not seem to work as well if you are using a keyboard and mouse.
All in all I am unhappy with both Microsoft and Best Buy. I have wasted hours just trying to do simple little things on this computer. I am not going to fool with it much longer. If I have to educate myself to use something new then I will make darn sure it is not a Microsoft operating system. Since they seem to not care about their current users and made this TURKEY of a program.
Any ideas on the speaker issue??? End of rant!!!
