Milling Machine

I finally got my mill running after sitting for 2 years, it is really nice to have it. I did find a few tools that I needed to order.

Now for the punch line. It is a Grizzly, so probably Korean made, I could not figure out why the tools would not cut, the switch was wired backwards.

Left handed cutters??? LOL

I will trade your switch issue for my computer speaker problem. I wasted all evening trying to fix it.

Yes it does, FWD and REV, switch was wired backwards from factory. I wonder if every one was that way.

Hey Dave,

I have a Bridgeport clone at work and when you change the quill speed from low to high you have change the forward/reverse switch,EX.. turn the power switch to forward when it is in low gear/ turn power switch to reverse when working in high gear. When we moved the machine Maint. guy wired it out of phase(3 phase 480)Just used it backwards for a part for Maint. Then they switched 2 leads of the 3 then back to normal.

Could you post a picture of the mill? If it has a copy of the Bridgeport J head it may not be wired backwards. The J head runs both clock ways and counter clock ways without changing the motor rotation depending on how you have the high low gear set.
