Ok,
I spilled candle wax onto my painted deck, Is there a solvent that will pull the wax off the wood? I would like to put on a finish coat of paint and the was will prevent that from happening. The area where the was was spilled is small, only about 1 sq. foot.

Thanks, in advance.

I think I would take a wire brush to the wax. Loosen it up good and then just sweep it up. Follow up with some mineral spirits or rubbing alcohol and you should be good to go.

Paper towels and your wife's clothes iron. Lay the paper towels down and "iron " them. Should soak most all of the wax in to the towels. If you use solvents such as MEK you wet the rag and wipe the deck. Do not just soak it cause it will soak in.

Gently lift off the worst with a flat bladed scraper then use boiling water and paper towel . Wax floats on water , this is what you want to happen . Any solvent will thin the wax and allow some of it to penetrate the wood , this will stain it and create a slippery patch . Boiling water straight out of the jug will melt and lift it at the same time , the paper towel will soak it up . Messy but might be the best solution .
