Good shop closing

Just found out that a local garage is closing.The man that owned it.Turned it over to his sons. After cancer forced him to retire.What took him years to build into a go to shop. His sons have killed it in less than two years.

Used to.You had to call ahead to see if he had a spot to park what you were bringing.He was so good Ford would call him for advice and has the paperwork to prove it.

Sad thing is sons seemed to have done everything they could to run people off. Sure going to miss it.I wonder how many shops are going through the same thing.
 
I'd say now would be a good time to buy (GET) them out and keep the shop going !! I'll bet people will start to come back once they know it's under new management !! just my .02 cents Jim in N.M.
 
Hi Sad to hear that. many small town shops are heading the same way. Kinda makes me wonder if there is a big financial interest in the land value?.

Land sale is not the problem. As it is on the old mans land and he is not selling anything.Gonna be in the round table meeting at the feed store. In the morning. I am sure there will be some talk about buying or renting the shop.
 
A once successful local tire shop here is going down the tubes also. The owner has cancer and it is being run (down) by his greedy son who never bother to have a personality installed. But there's a couple of others who'll happily fill the void. TDF
 
Another sad one is listed in the garden tractor area as Ohh noo and more picures and Paul Jackson. This is a GREAT lawn tractor salvage place that is going out. Go look.
 
Kids don't always share their parents passion.

I got away from the dairy and went to college.

Both my kids went to college. After college, both moved to Indy to find jobs.

I don't expect my kids to follow in my footseps. I'm sure when I'm gone, all my tools, tractors, property, and rental business well be sold.
