16 Gallon Barrels

Anyone know of a source for 16 gallon steel barrels?
They are 14 1/2" dia x 27" tall.

I need a couple to store the support tubes for our lathes.

I've found new ones, but they're rather proud of them! None of the local used barrel places have them.

Anyone know of a common use for them that might have some used ones?

Thanks!

I worked for a tractor dealer , we got our grease in that size barrel. Check with Truck dealers too. Lincoln makes a grease pump that sits in that size barrel, it's quite popular......

Local fruit processing plant uses a brand of lubricating grease known as "AJAX". I believe that is the size of barrels the product is packaged in.

When my brother in law milked cows, he got his udder wash soap in a plastic barrel about that size. I cut the tops off and use them for garbage cans in the shop.

I worked for a car paint retailer, 16 gallon drums of thinner were common. Go to a body shop and see if they have any they can give you.

That is the size of the 120 lb grease barrels.
We had so many we used them as garbage cans at a gas station I work at years ago.

People today most likely scrap them or send back to grease/oil supplier.

You might ask around at some large shops that use a lot of grease such as dealerships or look out back of old gas stations.
