potato question

Got home from work tonight and checked out the garden. Red potatoes are going to be the best I have ever raised. Unbelieveable for the poor start they had. The Yukon Gold planted at a later date did poor. Only a couple of plants out of several pounds of seed. Dug one of the plants and good large potatoes but the plant had little green tomato like fruits on it. Never seen that before or just didn't notice it. What are they?

Hope you get a reply from someone as i have the same thing on my yukon gold. They look just like a little green tomato with a five star leef at the bottom of it betweeen the it and the stem.

Did you know potatoes and tomatoes, peppers, belladonna, tobacco, and petunias are all cousins, members of the Nightshade family?
Solanaceae

some but not all varieties of potatoes will flower. of those that flower, some but not all will produce fruit, which is what you are describing.

potatoes propagated from tubers are genetically identical; the seeds found in the fruit will be the result of genetic recombination.

I have lots of them on my Yukon Golds also this year. They are like clumps of grapes. Pics. were taken mid July.
