Old tool...

I found this old tool out in my field. Must be pretty old!

I don"t even see a trademark, part number, or patent date on it!

There's no tool like an old tool. Found this many years ago when I was a teenager going slow cultivating. Wouldn't it be interesting to know where all and in whose hands these things have been?

MANY have been found, mostly in the pioneer sodbusting days, but every now and then another pops up.

Back in the 50's one of my friends lived on the James river (Jim) SE SD. He had a lot of stone tools he found. Kind of wondering what happened to them.

I found a what I would call a sledge like your piece a few years ago. Was disking in a field along a creak known as Indian Camp as told to me by my dad. Saw this big rock, big rocks are unusual around here though we have a lot of gravel, went back later for some reason and found it was a maul or whatever you call it. Field had been farmed all my life and very few marks on it. Few people have tried to buy it.

found several of these at the old indian village I live on. Gotta wonder about the hands that carefully shaped & smoothed it. Also find many of the rocks that made the grooves.
