had the skidder out over the weekend movin some gravel and gave the grubber a quick test. didnt have my camera with, but next weekend i will. it will grab about a 1/2 to 3/4 inch sapling and pop em right out. you need a slow pull and once it bites it, good to go. grabbed a 3 inch tree and popped it right out, straight up pull. also pulled some pesky roots out too. it is spring loaded and it takes a little oomph to open the jaws, but it grabbs good. i'll post some pics next week. fer the money, im real happy with it.

glennster,
Thanks for your reply.
I went to amazon and found a smaller one, only 2 inch, which is all I want to remove trees from flower beds. The big boys, I can remove with chain or backhoe.

What do you think of this one for $45?
George
brush grabber?

Glad to hear it--had to pull a few myself yesterday, and most came out fine with a chain, but a couple wanted to be pesky and I ended up taking them out with the backhoe, which I had right there for the larger ones anyway. There's a certain size, about 3/4" or so, that are too big to pull by hand and too small for a chain to get a good bite--they'll just strip the bark, especially if they're still green.

swmbo got it from amazon too. the one you posted is a tad smaller than the one i got. mine was about 76 dollars. they do work good!! and i like that you can grab small trees and pop em right out, usually the chain just strips em bare.

i think a chain off the backhoe bucket with the grubber would work great. i 'll have to try mine on the backhoe next time i have it out working. just use a slow pull and the grubber really digs in, no need to yank them out. pulls most all the roots at the same time.

I'll order the smaller one. Many thanks. Let you know how it worsk. I have some 1/2 inchers I want to pull. Yes a chain will just skin them.

They also work good for pulling pallets to the back of a semi trailer so you can fork them out if there is no loading dock available.

DID you see my grubber? The one made from a pipe and a chain. That will pull any size. Will also wrap around a buffalo berry bush or other large bush. Just squeezes on down like a hangmans noose.
